Home-Based Jobs To Consider For More Monthly Income

March 2nd, 2017 | No Comment Yet

The rise of technology has given employees the option to have more flexible schedules, as well as the opportunity to perform a variety of work-related tasks while not being restricted to an office. An increasing number of workers are looking into working at home as a way of gaining additional income. This is especially relevant for workers approaching retirement, or those looking to smoothen the transition from full-time work to retirement, while retaining the financial benefits of work with more flexible working conditions at home. Here are some home-based jobs worth considering for more monthly income.

Freelance writer/editor

Although most major websites have resident writers, many others turn to outsourcing and hire freelance writers and content creators. For those who enjoy writing and working at home, the options are plentiful, as these websites offer jobs that include writing, creating content, proofreading and editing. Previous experience is helpful, but not an imperative. Skilled writers with expertise in particular areas of interest can submit their work to specialist websites, magazines, trade publications, etc; as freelance writers are regularly needed for writing product reviews or covering new releases.

Virtual assistant

There has been a steady increase in demand for virtual assistants, as they successfully substitute in-office assistants while reducing the costs. The tasks a virtual assistant is required to complete vary based on the employer’s business type and particular needs. This a highly versatile job with much potential, as the job description covers many different skills. Duties range from administrative work and answering calls and emails, to making travel arrangements and other support services that can be handled remotely. Since the telephone is still a dominant way of communication to people of all ages and backgrounds, virtual receptionists that provide a reliable telephone answering service are particularly sought after.

Online teacher/tutor

Teaching online is a flexible and cost effective way to work from home, as you will be using the knowledge and skills you already possess. The choices in online teaching will be based on your credentials and experience. The greatest demand is for tutors in major subjects: math, science, history and English. Foreign language online tutoring is also something worth considering if you are fluent in a second language. You can use an already existing online platform, or you might opt to tutor on your own. If you choose the latter, you will be in charge of finding your students and adapting the learning material to their needs. Developing strong relationships of trust and cooperation with your students will lead to a steady extra income.

Selling online

Selling online is another cost effective way to earn an extra income. From establishing your own online store, to creating one on an already existing platform, the possibilities are vast. Selling things you already own is a good start. People with hobbies who make their own craft products should consider offering these products online. Market research is essential to the success of this venture, especially if it includes buying goods and reselling them. Purchasing and offering the right products at the right price should garner considerable profit.

The times of unreliable and unprofitable home-based jobs are coming to an end, as it is getting easier to recognize and avoid scams while looking for work options suitable for you. The amount of additional monthly income earned from home will largely depend on the workers’ willingness to learn and invest time and energy in developing both personal and business skills, in order to adapt to new situations while maintaining a work/life balance.
